EAR WAX

How can I safely remove earwax at home?

At Ear Wax Care, we’re experts on all things ear related. First things first, it’s important to remember that some ear wax is good for your ears, so unless you’re experiencing excess ear wax symptoms, the first thing we’d say is that the best policy is to leave it alone. Ear wax is important as it is a natural cleanser which removes dead skin cells, hair and dirt from your ears.

However, it is also possible to have excess ear wax. If you have excess ear wax, you may have symptoms like earaches, infections and other problems. In the long term, if you have a severe build up, you might experience some loss of hearing. The most important thing is that you do not insert anything into your ears to remove excess ear wax, such as cotton buds, your fingers or even toothpicks, as this will simply compress the wax deeper into your ear and worsen the problem.

If you want to safely remove ear wax from home, then we would suggest a simple olive oil treatment. All you have to do is lie on your side with the affected ear facing up and then put 2 to 3 drops of olive oil in your ear. You should continue to lie on your side after putting in the oil and repeat this 3 to 4 times a day, for 3 to 5 days. Over the course of 2 weeks, you’ll notice that ear wax will fall out of your ears and your symptoms will improve.

This is a safe at-home treatment. However, if your symptoms don’t improve, or you’re looking for professional treatment, then get in touch with our team here at Ear Wax Care to discuss microsuction treatment options. We want to care for your ear health, keeping you happy and healthy!
